Getting Started with Pixel2Vector
Welcome to Pixel2Vector! This guide walks you through everything you need to know to convert your first raster image into a clean, scalable SVG vector graphic. Whether you are a designer, print shop owner, or hobbyist, you will be producing professional-quality vectors in minutes.
What Is Pixel2Vector?
Pixel2Vector is an AI-powered image vectorization service that converts raster images (PNG, JPG, BMP, WebP, GIF) into scalable vector graphics (SVG). Unlike basic auto-trace tools, our system uses GPU-accelerated neural networks to upscale your image, classify its content type, and apply optimized vectorization parameters automatically.
The result is a clean, professional SVG file suitable for:
- Professional printing and signage
- Vinyl cutting with Cricut, Silhouette, and other plotters
- Embroidery digitizing
- Web design and development
- Brand identity and marketing materials
- T-shirt screen printing and DTG
Step-by-Step: Your First Vectorization
1 Create Your Free Account
Visit pixel2vector.com/register and sign up with your email address. You will receive 5 lifetime credits immediately upon email verification—no credit card required.
Each credit allows one image vectorization. Free credits never expire, so you can take your time exploring the tool.
2 Prepare Your Image
For the best results, follow these image preparation tips:
- Use the highest resolution available. Higher resolution = more detail for the AI to work with
- PNG with transparent background is ideal for logos and icons
- Clean, well-lit images produce better traces than blurry or noisy ones
- Crop unnecessary whitespace around your subject
- Maximum file size: 10MB per image
3 Upload Your Image
From the homepage, drag and drop your image onto the upload area, or click to browse your files. Supported formats: PNG, JPG, JPEG, BMP, WebP, and GIF.
Once uploaded, you will see a preview of your image. The AI begins processing immediately.
4 AI Processing
Our AI pipeline performs several operations automatically:
- Image Classification: CLIP neural network identifies whether your image is a logo, illustration, gradient graphic, or complex image
- Super-Resolution Upscaling: Real-ESRGAN enhances your image to 12 megapixels on dedicated GPU servers
- Optimized Vectorization: VTracer engine with category-specific parameters traces clean vector paths
- Color Optimization: Post-processing ensures accurate color reproduction
Processing typically takes 30-90 seconds depending on image complexity.
5 Download Your SVG
Once processing completes, you will see a side-by-side comparison of your original image and the vectorized result. Click the "Download SVG" button to save your vector file.
Your SVG file is ready to use in any vector editor (Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma, Affinity Designer) or directly on the web.
Understanding Your Credits
Pixel2Vector uses a credit-based system:
- Free Plan: 5 lifetime credits upon registration
- Pro Plan: 300 credits per month plus priority GPU processing
- API Pro Plan: 5,000 credits per month with full API access
Each vectorization uses 1 credit. Visit the Pricing page for full plan details.
Tips for Best Results
- Logos: Use a PNG with transparent background for the cleanest trace
- Illustrations: Higher resolution inputs produce smoother curves and better detail
- Text in images: The AI handles text well, but very small text (under 12px) may lose clarity
- Gradients: Our AI preserves gradients effectively—no need to flatten them first
- Complex photos: While the tool handles photographs, the best results come from graphics with distinct shapes and colors
