Troubleshooting Common Issues

Having trouble with Pixel2Vector? This guide covers the most common issues and their solutions. If your problem isn't listed here, don't hesitate to contact our support team.

Upload Issues

"File format not supported"

This error appears when the uploaded file is not in a supported raster format.

✅ Solution

  • Ensure your file is one of: PNG, JPG, JPEG, BMP, WebP, GIF
  • Check the actual file extension—sometimes files are renamed incorrectly (e.g., a PDF renamed to .png)
  • SVG, AI, EPS, and PDF files cannot be uploaded as they are already vector formats
  • TIFF files are not currently supported—convert to PNG first using any image editor

"File too large"

The uploaded file exceeds the maximum file size limit.

✅ Solution

  • Maximum file size is 10MB per image
  • For large BMP files, convert to PNG first (PNG compression typically reduces file size by 50-80%)
  • For photographs, save as JPG at 90% quality to reduce file size while maintaining detail
  • Crop unnecessary whitespace or background areas before uploading

"Upload failed" or timeout errors

The file could not be uploaded to our servers.

✅ Solution

  • Check your internet connection—unstable connections may cause timeouts during upload
  • Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari are all supported)
  • Disable browser extensions that may interfere with file uploads (ad blockers, privacy extensions)
  • Clear your browser cache and try again
  • If using a corporate network, check if your firewall allows file uploads

Processing Issues

Processing takes too long (more than 5 minutes)

Vectorization is taking longer than expected.

✅ Solution

  • Complex images with many colors and fine details naturally take longer (up to 2-3 minutes)
  • During peak usage hours, free-tier jobs may experience queue delays. Pro subscribers get priority processing
  • If processing exceeds 5 minutes, try refreshing the page. Your job may have completed but the status didn't update
  • Extremely large or complex images may time out. Try reducing the image resolution or cropping to focus on the main subject

"Processing failed" error

The vectorization engine encountered an error.

✅ Solution

  • Try uploading the image again—transient server issues resolve on retry
  • Check if the image file is corrupted by opening it in an image viewer first
  • Very small images (under 50×50 pixels) may not have enough data for successful vectorization
  • Animated GIFs: only the first frame is processed. If the first frame is blank, use a standard image instead
  • If the error persists, contact support with the error details and original image

Quality Issues

Vector output has jagged edges

The SVG shows staircase patterns instead of smooth curves.

✅ Solution

  • The most common cause is low input resolution. Use the highest resolution version of your image available
  • Images below 200×200 pixels may not produce smooth results even with AI upscaling
  • Heavy JPEG compression creates artifacts that are traced as part of the design. Use a less-compressed version if available
  • For logos, a PNG with transparent background produces significantly cleaner results than a JPG on a colored background

Colors don't match the original

The vectorized SVG has different colors than the input image.

✅ Solution

  • Minor color shifts are normal during vectorization as colors are quantized into discrete values
  • The AI groups similar colors together—very subtle color differences may be merged
  • Your monitor's color profile may display SVGs differently than PNG/JPG. Try comparing in the same application
  • For exact color matching, edit the SVG in a vector editor and manually adjust fill colors to your brand's exact hex/Pantone values

Download Issues

SVG file won't open in my software

✅ Solution

  • Cricut Design Space: Make sure you're uploading via the Upload → Upload Image workflow, not File → Open
  • Silhouette Studio (free version): SVG import requires Designer Edition ($50 upgrade). As a workaround, open the SVG in Inkscape (free) and save as DXF
  • Microsoft Office: Insert → Pictures → choose the SVG file. Requires Office 365 or Office 2019+
  • Old software: Legacy applications may not support SVG 2.0 features. Try opening in Inkscape and re-saving as "Plain SVG"

Account & Billing Issues

Credits not appearing after purchase

✅ Solution

  • Credits are applied immediately after successful payment. Try refreshing your Dashboard
  • Check your email for a Stripe payment confirmation. If the payment failed, no credits will be applied
  • If payment was successful but credits don't appear within 5 minutes, contact support with your Stripe receipt
